Protect yourself from Credit Card Theft

There always seems to be new ways to be robbed. With each new advancement in technology to protect yourself from theft, there are new ways to thwart this and actually use it against you.

Now those wishing to steal your credit card number may have an even easier time at it. No longer do they need to physically get your number (phone call scams, skimmers, credit card info not properly disposed of, etc), but now “skimming” is taken to a new, untouchable level.

The new RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology makes paying easy by merely waving your card over a scanner in the checkout line. The new RFID technology also allows for your precious information to be skimmed by thieves in much the same manner.

RFID readers are widely available to whomever wishes to purchase one. Try looking on Google - I did, it's kind-of scary. Anyone with such a reader can merely scan your card (as you walk by, drink your coffee, wait for the bus) without coming into physical contact with you. Now all your credit card information is scanned and waiting to be used by someone other than you.

Watch this youtube video if you want to see it in action.

RFID technology is also in various ID's including passports and drivers licenses.

How to protect yourself?

A simple protective sleeve will protect your card from electronic pickpocketing. You can buy these at various manufactures, or from my shop!
I use a regular tyvek card protector (from back when protecting your card ment from it getting scratched). Then I cover the sleeve with aluminium. This way the tyvck is what comes into contact with your card, unlike manufactured protectors in which the alloy is on the inside.

Then...last but not least, the aluminium is covered by your choice of funky coloured duct tape! The duct tape also helps to make the protector more durable. I know my regular tyveck sleeves the bank gives wore out pretty fast, but the duct tape gives it an extra layer of protection from wear and tear. Safe in style!

Now for a limited time, as an introductory offer, I am offering free shipping to the US and Canada on these little things. Be sure to check it out!
