Two Custom Orders

It is not unusual to be putting together a custom order, but two of the same sort of thing in one week is! I had the pleasure of working on these two completely unrelated orders. Each of these 8" x 10" leather journals have a custom painted title page. One in sea foam green leather with slate grey thread, the other in burgundy brown leather with butterscotch thread. Both turned out so beautifully!

A whole new type of thing is in my shop now! Made with genuine hair on hide! Yes, the hair is REAL! Perfect for sketches, pen and ink, and writing. Silver snap keeps book securely closed when not in use. Hand sewn in a diamond pattern with strong, natural/tan, waxed linen thread. Diamond pattern on spine adds spine support.

Custom Order - They Just Keep Getting Bigger

This past week I got a custom order for a very large, very beautiful book! My previous custom order was quite large with triple the page count, but 8" x 10" journal takes the lead!

Ready to sew. 10 signatures to make a 300 page count book. 1.8 square feet of leather. 29 feet of thread.

New - 4" x 6" journals!

Blank leather journals are now available in a new size!

These 4" x 6" books can be used as either a journal, sketchbook or mix of both. Great for on the go or in your desk. Made with the same 70lb weight paper and stitching as the larger 5.5" x 7" journals. Available premade, or with the option to choose your own colour combinations.

Custom Order - My Biggest Book Ever!

Custom orders are fun. I am always amazed at the colour combinations (and how good they look together) that my customers choose.

This time around, it wasn't only the burgundy brown leather with great coordinating light rose waxed linen thread, but also ordered were many extra pages - triple the amount in my regular journals!

Sure I've done some large books, but this is by far the thickest!

....And so beautiful too!

Custom Order - Dark Blue Extra Large Sketchbook

A little while ago I got a custom order request for this extra large leather journal. The customer loved the size of the 8" x 10" sketchbook and asked if she could have a custom order for one as she would like to choose her own colours. She choose the leather and thread colours from my regular custom journal listing. This book contains 120 blank, hand torn pages of 70lb (104gsm) weight, acid free drawing paper. It is bound with waxed linen thread and has a silver snap to hold closed. The dark blue leather with the slate grey thread go very nicely together.

New Item - Extra Large Leather Sketchbook

Some regular items in my shop are a result of custom requests. At the beginning of this year a got a request for an extra large, 8" x 10" journal. It turned out very nicely indeed, and now I am please to announce that 8" x 10" journals will be a part of my regular stock.

These journals contain 120 pages of 70lb, acid free, drawing paper. All sewn by hand with strong waxed linen thread. Pages are hand torn for a deckled effect.

Now there are three different sizes of journals I offer in my shop. Check them all out.

On My Work Table - Custom Order with Pencil Holders

Occasionally I get requests for slight customizations to my leather journals and sketchbooks. This weekend I was working on one such order. The customer liked the journals, but wanted some extra slots added to act as pencil holders for her sketchbook. Some other slight adjustments also occurred, such as a more slender strap width and colour of leather. This dark brown leather sketchbook is bound with tan, waxed linen thread and contains 96 pages of 98lb weight acid free artist paper.

New Opportunity at the Exchange Uporium

This is an exciting opportunity for me. Some of my items will have their debut in a "brick and mortar" store this summer! The Exchange Uporium opens this week and will be open from May 15th until September 20th, 2014.

The Exchange Uporium features 40 different Manitobans and included both vintage and original collections of fashion, home decor, artistry, jewelry, bath & body, and even food! "Designed, Made, Discovered – in Manitoba".

Open Monday to Saturday 11 am to 7 pm & Sunday 12 noon to 5 pm.

Lined Journals Now Available

It's taken a little while, but lined, leather journals are now available to purchase online!

As mentioned in a previous post, these journals contain 120 pages of 65lb weight, acid free paper. To put that in perspective, regular "office" paper is 20lb. The book is bound with the same beautiful stitching as my blank leather journals, with the diamond pattern down the spine, which adds strength and stability to the book. New colours hope to be added soon!
